Mac OSX Shortcuts

January 11th, 2009  |  Written by: Joe Miragliotta  |  Apple  |  No Comments »

I’ve compiled the most important shortcut commands which pertain to your Apple computer. Most of the shortcuts will be able to be used in multiple programs. Here they are…

Word Processing (these will work not only in a word processor):

command + x = Cut
command + c = Copy
command+ v = Paste
command + s = Save
command + p = Print
command + d = Duplicate
command + a = Select All
delete = Backspace (many get this confused coming from PC assuming to find a backspace)
fn + delete = Forward delete aka. oposite of backspace. This is not needed if you have a full keyboard.

Application/Window Management:

command + q = Quit Application
command + w = Close Window
command + h = Hide Application
command + tab = Tab through current applications open

Finder:

command + n = New Finder Window
command + shift + n = New Folder
command + delete = Send Selected File into Trash
command + shift + delete = Empty Trash
command + i = Get Info
command + e = Eject Selected Volume (ex: disc or .dmg install volume)
command + space = Open Spotlight

 Safari/Firefox:

command + t = New Tab
command + n = New Window
command + w = Close browser window
command + p = Print browser window
