Rip Torn arrested!

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

O M G. Rip Torn (Dodge Ball) was arrested in Salisbury, CT. It was reported that he was breaking into a bank drunk.

What is the world coming to?

The Freddy Got Fingered actor was highly intoxicated. He was caught promptly after breaking into the Litchfield Bancorp building. Currently being held for $100,000 bond at the North Canaan charged with:

  • First-degree burglary
  • First-degree criminal trespass
  • Carrying a pistol without a permit
  • Carrying a firearm while intoxicated
  • Third-degree criminal mischief

I’m not quite sure what was going through his head during this covert op but I hope it wasn’t investigating a new role.

Sad but true

Mad TV’s iPad skit has been reignited

Friday, January 29th, 2010

It seems as though Apple’s iPad won’t be getting a break anytime soon from all of it’s teasing and name calling. Mad TV had a sketch about it 5 years ago saying the iPad was used as a more advanced Maxi pad.

Check out the video below from MadTV:

You have to admit the video is really well done and funny. I’m sure even Apple can laugh at that. I don’t think it will mess with the products success. I’m real excited to try out the iBooks application. Can’t wait.

Here is a video with Arden Myrin (actress) and writer of the skit Bruce McCoy:

A Cherry Tattoo predicted Dakota Fanning’s role

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Sometimes it isn’t necessary to have a guardian angel or someone to hold your hand and guide you to your next project. If you don’t believe me just ask Dakota Fanning. A cherry tattoo her friend at school branded her with was a small foreshadowing for her role as Cherie Currie in ‘The Runaways’.

While in school her friend brought in some temporary tattoos. Fanning picked out a little cherry and had it put on her arm. She revealed this story to the actual Currie while having lunch to talk about the movie.

When arriving home the day with the cherry on her arm her mother Joy Fanning was holding in her hand ‘The Runaways’ script. From that moment on she felt that she was meant to play Cherie Currie.

Currie has said countless times how much she admires Fanning.

“She’s a prodigy, she’s incredibly unique,” she said. “I think she deserves an Academy Award, I’m going to say that right now.”

Both Fanning and Stewart (Joan Jett) worked extremly hard on their roles. With countless hours of practice and training Stewart was told to have the hardest role. Wielding the guitar, “I would finish rehearsal and be like, ‘My shoulders are killing me!’”. Fanning had it a tad easier as the lead singer. Although, her instrument was only the mic, she had much longer hours of training.

Do you think all of the hard work will pay off? I’m really curious to see the outcome. I will admit to not knowing much about ‘The Runaways’ and their music but I’m sure i’ll do a little bit of investigating before I watch the movie.

The Book of Eli (2010)

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Directed by: Albert & Allen Hughes

Cast:

Denzil Washington as Eli

Mila Kunis as Solara

Gary Oldman as Carnegie

Theatrical Release: January 15th, 2010

Synopsis: In the not-too-distant future, some 30 years after the final war, a solitary man walks across the wasteland that was once America. Empty cities, broken highways, seared earth–all around him, the marks of catastrophic destruction. There is no civilization here, no law. The roads belong to gangs that would murder a man for his shoes, an ounce of water…or for nothing at all.

But they’re no match for this traveler.

A warrior not by choice but necessity, Eli (Denzel Washington) seeks only peace but, if challenged, will cut his attackers down before they realize their fatal mistake. It’s not his life he guards so fiercely but his hope for the future; a hope he has carried and protected for 30 years and is determined to realize. Driven by this commitment and guided by his belief in something greater than himself, Eli does what he must to survive–and continue.

Only one other man in this ruined world understands the power Eli holds, and is determined to make it his own: Carnegie (Gary Oldman), the self-appointed despot of a makeshift town of thieves and gunmen. Meanwhile, Carnegie’s adopted daughter Solara (Mila Kunis) is fascinated by Eli for another reason: the glimpse he offers of what may exist beyond her stepfather’s domain.

But neither will find it easy to deter him. Nothing–and no one–can stand in his way. Eli must keep moving to fulfill his destiny and bring help to a ravaged humanity. –© Warner Bros

My Review: Interesting take on the post apocalyptic genre. The Book of Eli gets an A+ for the action scenes. When there was fighting I was fully entertained. Denzel is a little badass. Who knew? Usually he just plays the intimidating black man (Training Day). I could have done without the Dr. Dre Beats cameo. UGH! That’s one of the things that lowered my rating for this film. Also the fact that Mila Kunis isn’t the greatest actor. She should stick to her voice acting on the Family Guy (Meg). I will always say though that she is a pretty lady. Gary Oldman was fabulous as always. Great actor.

Overall Rating: B

JoesDaily LLC, Cameron Douglas, and a little bit about the iPad

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

2010 has started off pretty awesome so far. After meeting with my tax man Rick I’m super excited about what JoesDaily LLC will become. Yes California taxes suck but it will be worth it all in the long run. I also talk a little bit about Michael Douglas son and iPad.

It’s Official. Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time!

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Sorry Leo, but you no longer can say your movie is number one. Sadly all he can say is it use to be and he worked with the same director who has the number one spot. Worldwide Avatar has hit $1.859 billion dollars. WOW! That is insane. Of course I’m sure James and the studios would love to cap that off by rounding it to $2 billion.

The question now is will it hit it’s Domestic Revenue? Right now it’s currently at $555 million and movie experts are saying it’s not slowing down. I’m sure we can expect to see it beat Titanic in the next few weeks. Very exciting for the actors of the film. Congrats! Just $45 million + to go.
