Sometimes it isn’t necessary to have a guardian angel or someone to hold your hand and guide you to your next project. If you don’t believe me just ask Dakota Fanning. A cherry tattoo her friend at school branded her with was a small foreshadowing for her role as Cherie Currie in ‘The Runaways’.
While in school her friend brought in some temporary tattoos. Fanning picked out a little cherry and had it put on her arm. She revealed this story to the actual Currie while having lunch to talk about the movie.
When arriving home the day with the cherry on her arm her mother Joy Fanning was holding in her hand ‘The Runaways’ script. From that moment on she felt that she was meant to play Cherie Currie.
Currie has said countless times how much she admires Fanning.
“She’s a prodigy, she’s incredibly unique,” she said. “I think she deserves an Academy Award, I’m going to say that right now.”
Both Fanning and Stewart (Joan Jett) worked extremly hard on their roles. With countless hours of practice and training Stewart was told to have the hardest role. Wielding the guitar, “I would finish rehearsal and be like, ‘My shoulders are killing me!’”. Fanning had it a tad easier as the lead singer. Although, her instrument was only the mic, she had much longer hours of training.
Do you think all of the hard work will pay off? I’m really curious to see the outcome. I will admit to not knowing much about ‘The Runaways’ and their music but I’m sure i’ll do a little bit of investigating before I watch the movie.

Great site and thanx for the post
thanks a lot. Come back soon :)
I know some about The Runaways. I was disappointed in the movie. There was so much more to the band, the other girls, etc. It seemed a bit choppy and didn’t really tell the whole story which is a real bummer because it had potential to be a MONSTER movie. Every one of those girls fought their own demons…some I think, still are.
