Google is no longer celebrating just celebrity birthdays like John Lennon’s. They have a special surprise for you when you login to your Google profile, as long as you filled in your birth date on your personal page.

They announced this change over the weekend and verified it will appear on Google.com on your special day. However you will have to make sure you’re logged in before going to Google or else you may be disappointed. No cute doodles or confetti. Sad face.

The usage of this is cute but wouldn’t you agree it’s more of a gimmick? We all know they don’t need anymore following then they already have but is it a way for them to get people more involved with their Google profile? I know for myself that I barely use it. I think I logged into it twice.
