Have you ever experienced a pounding headache that just wouldn’t go away? Chances are you were experiencing dehydration. There are many activities that can cause dehydration, such as diarrhea, vomiting, exercise, travel, heat exhaustion, and occasional alcohol consumption. The two that I feel are the most common are usually done in tandem: alcohol consumption and too much time in the sun.

I’ve partnered with my friends at Pedialyte to help educate you on signs of dehydration so that you can catch it before it becomes too late. As I mentioned before, the two that tend to go hand-in-hand are adult-beverages and time under the sun. Here are 5 signs of dehydration you should watch out for:

1. Headache

In my opinion the absolute worst sign of dehydration. This type of head pounding will have you in a dark room and not wanting to speak a word for hours until your body is properly hydrated. Think your worst hangover and multiply it by 2. That’s what a dehydration headache feels like.

2. Exhausted

Some will blame it on a little too much time in the sun, but the fact is your body wasn’t hydrated enough. You will feel like all you want to do is sleep the day away. Try finishing a Pedialyte Powder Pack in a full glass of  water and tell me you aren’t ready to head back out in the sun.

3. Dry Mouth

Normally I would say dry mouth is the least of your worries when it comes to dehydration, but have you ever had a dry mouth that wouldn’t go away? Even a glass of water won’t cure this sign of dehydration. Your best bet is drink a few glasses of water and wait it out.

4. Dizziness or Lightheadedness

This might be the second worst sign of dehydration. You may see spots, almost mirage like. In my opinion, this is the most obvious sign that you should look out for, especially if your spending time out in the sun. Perhaps now is a good time to move under the umbrella and into some shade.

5. Constipation

Is there anything worse? Think of your body like a well oiled machine. If it isn’t properly lubricated, the internal parts are just not going to run as efficiently as one that has been taken care of. Since our bodies need water, and dehydration is the opposite of what our bodies need, then what do you think is going to happen? Constipation is never fun, especially if you include the aforementioned signs that are more than likely accompanying not being able to make a bowel movement. Talk about discomfort.

Orange and Strawberry Lemonade, two of my favorite Pedialyte Powder Pack flavors

The listed 5 signs of dehydration can be stopped by simply having Pedialyte Powder Packs with you when you’re on the go. I myself put these to the test while in Las Vegas recently. My personal suggestion is to drink one full glass of water with a Pedialye Powder Pack before you go out in the sun and consume alcohol. That way your body is already hydrated and ready for some fun. When you return home try having another glass of Pedialyte and see how you feel. Of course, the obvious suggestion is to also drink water while you’re out, especially in between adult-beverages.
