Square on the iPad is amazing for your business

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Have you ever wanted to have a POS (Point of Sale) with you whenever you were out visiting a client? How about if you owned a little coffee shop and needed to have something a little more trendy to check out your customers?

Now you can when you own the Square App created by SquareUp. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone that does freelance work or any small business wanting a POS system without all the other junk that comes along with it. Currently SquareUp is working on the iPhone and iPod version. I’ve downloaded the iPad App and have been extremely impressed so far.

So what are the rates, cost of the App, and yearly fees? You won’t believe this. The rates are more then reasonable (see below). The application is FREE and they send you the card swiper FREE as well. It plugs directly into the headphone jack on the top of the iPad. Lastly the yearly fee is…wait for it…big fat 0.

  • .75% + 15¢ for swiped transactions
  • 3.5% + 15¢ for keyed transactions

So what’s the catch? Honestly from what I can see, nothing! The company has a great way for the customer to get their receipt. You can send it via SMS or Email. If you check out the photo below you’ll see a little bit more of what you’ll get after the transaction.

My favorite feature, besides it being free, has to be the itemized store you can create. Imagine being able to pull up an item you sell often such as a certain coffee. You’re able to create that item in your App so that you can just pull it up in seconds and have someone charged immediately after. Awesome!

I am sick and tired of people getting themselves in credit card debt only to have the government bail them out. Listen to my rant below.

Financial Tips

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

I’ve decided to put in place a financial tip section. For those of you out there struggling don’t feel that your alone. I recommend join some kind of financial club maybe with a few of your friends. It’s always better to join something with friends because at least you have someone you know. I open my home page up every day only to see more CNN bad news about the economy. People that once made 80,000 a year at there job now making barely 25,000. We all need to come together as a group and unite. Use our brains to make our lives better. Below I’m going name some things that I recommend to my friends on how they can help save some money. I live in a very richy area and I see money being thrown around left and right. Well this is not a good way to live. You need to embrace for the worst or else you will have a big SHOCK. If you read my post early today about the family that killed themselves that is a prime example. When they both where laid off from there job they where shocked and scared. Don’t let that be you. So here are my tips…

  • For those of you that smoke out there this is a good time to stop. Ciggarettes are so FUCKING expensive. Imagine if you cut down on that. Quickly do a calculation on how much ciggarettes cost. I don’t give a shit if you buy them in bulk or whatever. It’s still money NOT WELL SPENT and it’s only hurting you and the people around you. So STOP!
  • Stop eating out every day. I recently have come to terms myself with this. Is it really neccasary to eat out every day? For one it’s not healthy unless you paying the big bucks and two it’s really really pricey. Figure this..if you got a lunch at your local food court it will be between 7 – 12 dollars. Now if you went to your grocery store and purchased a pack of turkey lunch meat, loaf of bread, and maybe a bag of chips you would only spend 7-9 dollars. But wait theres more! That one purchase at the grocery store could provide you with many meals. How much did that one lunch purchase give you??? ONE MEAL!!! I think I’ve rested my point.
  • Credit cards are a problem. Heres the deal. Stop using them. I only keep a few around beacuse if there is ever an emergency and I desperately need something then I’ll use it. Otherwise I recommend you cut them up. Save a few if needed but keep them hidden. Emergencies usually happen and are well known ahead of time if something is needed. My point on that is if you really need something then you pull out the card from the sock drawer and use it. Otherwise keep those at home.
  • Credit card tip take two! I’ve mentioned this before but want to touch base on it again. Call your companies and threaten to transfer your funds. Usually if they find out that you are leaving they will do there very best to lower your interest rates etc. So give it a try and see what happens. Mine have dropped a bunch using this technique.

Thats it for today but I did want to finish this post  with a thought. Always hustle for the next thing. Never let yourself stop trying. If you do I’m almost more then certain nothing will come. Nothing but depression and fear. FIGHT for the job. Fight for making it back on top. Otherwise what else is there to live for? Oh and always remember your friends. They will help you out too so why not try hard for someone you love.
