Careful what you tweet

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Could a simple tweet telling your friends and followers what you’re doing result in being robbed? Yes!

According to the site PleaseRobMe.com (clever name), they certainly think so. The website is not attended to get people to rob your house but to bring awareness to how you should rethink your twitter posts. To give you an example of what the website does check out the screen capture I just posted below:

Because most twitter users like myself decide not to set post privately our twitter feed is an open market. Imagine if someone knew where you lived and for whatever reason didn’t like you. If you tweet something like, “Going to Hawaii all next week. Can’t wait!”. Now that person knows exactly where you’ll be and has plenty of time to rob you.

Now this post wasn’t suppose to scare you and stop you from using Twitter, but just be more aware of what your doing in your day to day social media. Many are willing to give out their personal minute to minute information without realizing the consequences.

Do you agree with the site PleaseRobMe.com or do you find it ridiculous? Me personally, I feel it’s a wake up call. If anything it made me more aware. Oh, and if you don’t believe criminals are using things like Twitter to find out where people are then just ask Paris Hilton. She was robbed by her supposed friends because they knew whether or not she was out of the house or not.

F’ed up!

Need help managing your Twitter account? Use Twitter Karma

Friday, February 19th, 2010

So you have how many friends? Wow you’re so loved. Don’t be overwhelmed by all the love your getting. Instead I would take bulk action. Twitter Karma does just that for you. Gives you the opportunity to see who exactly follows you and who you follow back. Knowing the even trade is really important and this website gives you just that.

I will say one thing about the site is that it hurts my eyes to look at. Not really Web 2.0 savvy but hey it does the job. Besides the ugliness of the site I give it’s props for the idea of it. Bulk block, bulk follow, or bulk unfollow. You pick.

UPDATE: Twitter made the site take away BULK unfollow :*(

Do you know your Twitter Friend-Follower ratio?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Twitter is currently being used by millions of people all over the world. The micro social networking website generates 140 character messages for your pleasure. In just minutes you can find out what your favorite heiress is doing, (wiping her behind or making another sex tape) or discovering a famous Director/Writer such as Kevin Smith getting kicked off of his SouthWest airlines flight for being, “too fat”.

With all the excitement of Twitter the last few years, people of  all over have jumped on the bandwagon. Now isn’t it time to see where exactly you stand in this micro blog buzz?

I was curious how one would judge their standing with Twitter. Now I have a clear answer. The terminology being used is Friend-Follower Ratio. Why would this matter? Well let’s just say some have been using scheming to get their FOLLOWERS. The ratio will do a little math using your Friends and the amount of Followers you currently have.

Let’s break this down ——

If you are following 1200 people and only have 300 followers yourself it’s most likely that you are interested in Twitter for it’s information.

If you are a rockstar/actor/etc then you will probably have a friend-follower ratio like so - 80 friends, 1,002,343 followers. This is just an example but I’m sure you get the point.

If you are a SCHEMER then yours will most likely look like so – 3,343 friends, 3,503 followers. This is because the SCHEMERS are using websites that database friend for follow concepts. For example if I sign up for a website that schemes peoples follow counts it will not only have you followed but it will auto have your account follow the person that just added you. Make sense? If not I don’t care because I don’t recommend this concept.

If you want to learn your Friend-Follower Ratio on Twitter then go to this website. It’ll calcuate your ratio for you super fast. http://tffratio.com/. The website also works for other Twitter accounts as well so feel free to try and input your friends. It however won’t work for Private accounts unless you know that persons password.

Buzz, another Social Networking flop from Google?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

According to some critics it’s a flop. Many are writing negative feedback about the new project by Google calling it a cross from Twitter and Facebook. I received my Google Buzz acceptance today and tried using it for awhile. At first glance I didn’t see anything too great from it. Because I feel Google, much like Apple, always impresses me in the long run I give Buzz a little hope. I’ll grant Google some time to get Buzz where it needs to be. It does have big competition. Twitter is constantly getting more and more followers. Facebook has just recently revamped their interface yet again, which I rather enjoy.
Like GoogleWave I feel they have some plans for Buzz that we can’t even imagine. Check out the video below from Technology Blogger Mark Milian of the LA Times website. He talks a little bit about Buzz and how it works on your phone.

Ask me a question!

Monday, January 4th, 2010

With the constant effort of making JoesDaily an interactive website I’ve created a FormSpring account. What is FormSpring you ask? It’s a cool website where you ask people questions. So here is my thinking. You the user goes on my account and asks me a question. Once a week I’ll try and create a YouTube video answering people questions. I’m aiming to answer a few questions per video. So tell your friends and start asking me questions :)

Youtube Partnership…I’m Jealous

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

I’ve been browsing the the inter-webs for funny videos and always come back to YouTube. I am obsessed. I’ll go to bed on my iPhone watching the latest videos from ShaneDawson or LisaNova. If you haven’t checked them out yet I recommend you doing so.

This brings me to my question about YouTube Partnership. How does one become a partner? I’m smart enough to know that you need to have a huge audience and probably millions of views. I guess I’m curious to know what exactly does it take to officially go viral. If you watch Lisa Nova’s first video you will notice that it’s nothing special. It was a simple video introducing herself. The girl has big boobs…does that help? Shit I don’t have big boobs, and definitely no vagina.

So my question for you is what would you like to see from a YouTuber or me? Please leave a comment below.
