So my roommate watches UFC practically every day. I obviously caught onto the excitement since I’m walking past the TV to get to the kitchen and get caught up with watching someone get their head pounded to the ground. You don’t hear a lot about old fights in history though. Mostly because back in the day there wasn’t a so called MEDIA to publish fights like we do now. Could you imagine them twittering something extraordinary back in the day? It would be pure hilarity. The fight between Andy Bowen and Jack Burke is crazy.

It was New Orleans in 1893 and the two light weight fighters where Andy Bowen and Jack Burke. Both of them had a heart of gold, and a brain of soot. The fight began with the hopes of winning $2500 dollars and the champion title. Previously the current standing champion retired so the title was vacant waiting to be filled. The rounds where a standard 3 minutes in length but nobody would have guessed they would reach 111 rounds that night. That totaled to 7 hours and 19 minutes. This has to be some kind of Guinness Book record. Apparently the referee finally felt he should stop the fight since both men couldn’t remember their own names. In the UFC currently they stop the fights much sooner. This story makes the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fights look like child’s play. Being covered with blood, having numerous broken bones, and knocked to the mat countless times the poor fighters both tied. LAME!

If you’ve ever been to a stadium for a sporting event you would agree that the quality on the jumbo screen is crystal clear. Well finally someone took advantage of the screen on their down time and played a little xbox 360. From the screen shots you can see the crew playing Halo, Gears of War, and Call of Duty. Awesome utilization of the jumbo tron. I’m super jealous.

Horse euthanized after Church Hill accident

An unfortunate tragedy struck at the Churchhill Downs racetrack. This was just days before the Kentucky Derby. A three-year-old colt threw his jockey and took off out of control down the track, crashing into another horse and jockey and sending all tumbling to the ground. The horse that was crashed into was just two years old. The accident was so severe and the poor horse obtained injuries so bad that it had to be euthanized. Tragic. To some animal lovers the video below may seem extreme. It doesn’t show anything to graphic but just the impact of the other horse being hit. Watch with warning if you are easily upset.

Our famous american cyclist Lance Armstrong took a major spill causing him to break his right collarbone. This all happened in the first stage of a five-day race in northern Spain. After leaving the hospital in a sling he was quoted saying that he will return to the states to see what doctors will say about him having possible surgery done.

“I’m miserable, I just need to relax a couple of days and then make a plan.”
