Have you ever wanted to create a simple form or make a calendar for your website? I’ve recently been in need of these for Jamie Gaul’s website and Google saved the day.

Here are some of the things they provide for free on Google.com:

• Google Documents: Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Drawing, and even Forms for the web.
• Google Calendar: Fantastic calendar you can share with friends, groups, or whomever. My personal favorite which I’ve used recently was being able to embed the calendar I created for Jamie Gaul onto her site. This calendar was displaying her improv and standup shows. Also if you don’t have MobileMe, it’s a fantastic substitute for free. Sync your iCal to the google calendar (mac users).
• Blogger: Although I don’t use Blogger, I still feel it’s a great blogging service for many amateur writers. Someone that just wants to write and not worry too much about HTML coding.

So how is Google destine to rule the world? Well besides them having the most powerful search engine with Bing.com nipping at their heals, they’ve found a way to make a successful online operating system. Having an operating system online is super neat. It makes it easy to access and fast. Now that the web access is practically everywhere it just makes sense.

I’d recommend everyone create a Google account for free. It doesn’t hurt to be a part of something that continues to grow with technology and continues to be free.

Have you ever wanted to have a POS (Point of Sale) with you whenever you were out visiting a client? How about if you owned a little coffee shop and needed to have something a little more trendy to check out your customers?

Now you can when you own the Square App created by SquareUp. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone that does freelance work or any small business wanting a POS system without all the other junk that comes along with it. Currently SquareUp is working on the iPhone and iPod version. I’ve downloaded the iPad App and have been extremely impressed so far.

So what are the rates, cost of the App, and yearly fees? You won’t believe this. The rates are more then reasonable (see below). The application is FREE and they send you the card swiper FREE as well. It plugs directly into the headphone jack on the top of the iPad. Lastly the yearly fee is…wait for it…big fat 0.

• .75% + 15¢ for swiped transactions
• 3.5% + 15¢ for keyed transactions

So what’s the catch? Honestly from what I can see, nothing! The company has a great way for the customer to get their receipt. You can send it via SMS or Email. If you check out the photo below you’ll see a little bit more of what you’ll get after the transaction.

My favorite feature, besides it being free, has to be the itemized store you can create. Imagine being able to pull up an item you sell often such as a certain coffee. You’re able to create that item in your App so that you can just pull it up in seconds and have someone charged immediately after. Awesome!

I can just hear the tears pouring down from the Adobe corporate offices. Apple recently released the new App Development agreement with the release of the iPhone 4.0 OS.

Adobe is extremely angry with the changes specially because of Flash CS5 due soon. Apparently in the agreement it states an App can only be created from the App SDK development kit, nothing else. This can be found in the section called “API’s and Functionality”. This puts many things on hold for the company. I’m sure they had many investors in on their new product (CS5) which would make it easy to create Apps using Flash.

So why would Apple want to hurt Adobe? Many are speculating it’s because Apple has had a long battle with Adobe and the use of Flash on their portable devices, such as the iPhone, iPod touch, and the new iPad. The blow Adobe is feeling is really hitting them where it counts and that’s the opening sales of the new CS5 suite. I personally feel it wasn’t exactly a personal hit towards Adobe but rather a clean cut from them. For a few years now since the original iPhone had come out people have begged for flash to be on Apple’s mobile devices. My strong belief is Apple thinks light years ahead. Flash is old and HTML5 is here to stay. I’m in constant awe over my iPad and all that it does. It plays video amazingly and I couldn’t be happier.

So do we need Flash? I don’t think so. But who am I to judge? Just a tech freak.

After opening up my iPad I was anxious to try all the features out. The one that gave me most interest was iBooks. Being able to read on the device was just an added bonus with all the other things it could do.

So at first glance the iBooks app has a lot of potential. Whether it’s reading a how to book or some vampire love story. What blew me away was the genius that was already inside. Winnie the Pooh. Such a classic book. I remember my mother reading this to me years ago. Apple made a smart choice providing a sample book with it’s free app. They really thought about their consumers needs. Not only does this cover the young but I’m sure parents appreciated it.

Now to explore the iBooks store. In just minutes you can purchase a best seller. From what I’ve seen the best sellers run around $9.99. What a great price. Many would say they like the feel of a book in their hands but I have to disagree. When I pick up my iPad, knowing I have 15+ books at my disposal in such a tiny machine makes my head explode. Yes Kindle by Amazon has done this already but Apple just did it better. Sorry Amazon.

Back to the iBook store. When you open the store you’ll notice something very similar to the App Store. Free and Paid items. Leave it to Apple to not only provide you with a classic like Winnie the Pooh but also others such as Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Peter Pan, and much more. FREE FREE FREE. I downloaded all of them instantly. When I say instant I’m not kidding. On a WiFi network the book downloads in a few seconds.

This is a home run for Apple yet again. I forever will be in debt because of Apple, but with a smile on my face.

The world famous social media nut, known best as @iJustine is for sure excited for the iPad launch. She has been tweeting about it for awhile now. The video below is of her dancing in the 3rd Street Promenade Apple store located in Santa Monica. It’s hilarious. I give her credit for her doing it because everyone around her must think she’s nuts, however I would just join in. Hopefully she comes back to our store in Century City for a dance off.

That’s not all. The iPad has snuck into the hit tv show ‘Modern Family’. I haven’t seen said episode but it’s been said to have a 30 minute segment on the new device. Seems to me like a great way to market the new product even before it’s out. Makes me more and more excited to hold my very own. iPad is being released this Saturday April 3rd.

Due to a recent study, Games on the Apple iPad will be dominating every other category. So far it’s showing a 44% with the Entertainment category coming in a not so close second. Entertainment has only 14%.

These numbers are somewhat an estimate as of right now and I’m sure over time the pie graph will gradually change. However, this is looking quite positive for game developers. I’m sure companies like EA (Electronic Arts) are loving this. Another way to make a quick buck.

Most games on the iPhone or iPod Touch take only small teams to make something fun and worthwhile. Look at EA’s Call of Duty game they put out. I’m sure they used all of their old assets from the game and converted it to the iPhone OS. This would hardly take a large team. Imagine the profits the game made when selling them at $9.99 a pop.

Could a simple tweet telling your friends and followers what you’re doing result in being robbed? Yes!

According to the site PleaseRobMe.com (clever name), they certainly think so. The website is not attended to get people to rob your house but to bring awareness to how you should rethink your twitter posts. To give you an example of what the website does check out the screen capture I just posted below:

Because most twitter users like myself decide not to set post privately our twitter feed is an open market. Imagine if someone knew where you lived and for whatever reason didn’t like you. If you tweet something like, “Going to Hawaii all next week. Can’t wait!”. Now that person knows exactly where you’ll be and has plenty of time to rob you.

Now this post wasn’t suppose to scare you and stop you from using Twitter, but just be more aware of what your doing in your day to day social media. Many are willing to give out their personal minute to minute information without realizing the consequences.

Do you agree with the site PleaseRobMe.com or do you find it ridiculous? Me personally, I feel it’s a wake up call. If anything it made me more aware. Oh, and if you don’t believe criminals are using things like Twitter to find out where people are then just ask Paris Hilton. She was robbed by her supposed friends because they knew whether or not she was out of the house or not.
