This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of BACARDÍ. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don’t need to be the life of a party, but I do enjoy standing out from the rest. For me it’s about making memorable cocktails that will have people talking for weeks.

Most traditional parties consist of a table with a variety of alcohol and a tower of plastic cups. This layout is boring and lacks any creativity. Whether I’m hosting the party or attending one, I like spicing things up with a bottle of BACARDÍ and a few of their signature cocktails. You don’t have to be a professional bartender to make some killer drinks!

Below you will find 3 BACARDÍ recipes to add to your cocktail repertoire that is sure to make you the untameable guy at the next party.

BACARDÍ Mojito

BACARDÍ Mojito

You can’t go wrong with a classic, especially when you’re using BACARDÍ Superior rum.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 parts BACARDÍ Superior rum
  • 4 lime wedges
  • 12 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 heaped tsp of caster sugar
  • 1 part soda water/club soda
  • Sprig of fresh mint to garnish

DIRECTIONS:

Gently press together the limes & sugar. Bruise the mint leaves by clapping them between your palms, rub them on the rim of the glass and drop them in. Next, half fill the glass with crushed ice, add the BACARDÍ Superior rum & stir. Top up with crushed ice, a splash of soda and a sprig of mint.

Cuba Libre

CUBA LIBRE

US soldier Captain Russell proposed a toast, ‘Por Cuba Libre’, “For a Free Cuba”, while holding his BACARDÍ Gold rum and Coke with lime, and the Cuba Libre was born. It may not be the most innovative drink, but maybe that’s what makes it special. Just make sure your rum is BACARDÍ Gold, or else it isn’t a real Cuba Libre.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 part BACARDÍ Gold rum
  • 2 parts cola (bottled)
  • 2 lime wedges

DIRECTIONS:

To build this legendary cocktail, fill a highball glass with ice. Then squeeze 2 lime wedges over the ice and drop them into the glass. Pour in the BACARDÍ Gold rum, followed by chilled cola and give it all a gentle stir.

Rum Old Fashioned

RUM OLD FASHIONED

Some might say it’s a sin to mess with the classics, I say be untameable. Try making the iconic Old Fashioned with BACARDÍ 8 Años rum and you won’t be disappointed.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 parts BACARDÍ 8 Años
  • 2 dashes Angostura® bitters
  • 1 splash water
  • 1-2 tsp sugar
  • 1 orange zest

DIRECTIONS:

In an Old-Fashioned glass, pour in the sugar, water and Angostura Bitters®. Then combine everything with a bar spoon (or muddler) and add half the BACARDÍ 8 Años. Next drop two or three large ice cubes into the glass and stir repeatedly. Pour in the second half of the rum and two or three more ice cubes and continue to stir. Now cut a piece of orange peel (about 5 cm long) and squeeze it over the drink (to release the zest) before dropping it into the drink.
