Yesterday I was pleased to feature Harley-Davidson’s teaser video for a secret project they’ve been working on. Today I’m even more excited to reveal what that project under wraps was. Meet Project LiveWire, Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s first electric motorcycle.

Project LiveWire - Harley Davidson

For over a century, Harley-Davidson has united people around a shared passion — the passion for motorcycles. The launch of their first electric bike is a prime example of how they have been able to lead innovation in the 111 years they’ve been in business. Project LiveWire is a whole new take on the signature Harley-Davidson look, sound and feel.

Time and time again H-D has created bikes that are both innovative and down right cool. They have continually set the trend for other brands to follow. Project LiveWire is no exception — with its tire-shredding acceleration and sexy new sound — it’s sure to stand out.

Test-Drive Project LiveWire

A 2014 U.S. tour is scheduled and I couldn’t be more excited. The folks at Harley-Davidson not only want you to come out and see the bike at one of their tour stops, but test drive it as well. The journey kicks off down the famous Route 66 highway, where the team will stop at 30 Harley-Davidson dealerships now through the end of the year. If you don’t have your motorcycles license yet, no need to fret — the opportunity to feel the power of Project LiveWire will be available through Jumpstart — a simulated riding experience.

“Project LiveWire is more like the first electric guitar – not an electric car,” said Mark-Hans Richer, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Harley-Davidson Motor Company
