Apple has announced on Wednesday their newest line in iPhones, the iPhone 5. Many speculated whether or not they would be naming their latest smartphone the 5, but it is clear now what direction they are going with. Here are some of the notable upgrades you can look forward to.
The iPhone 5 is labeled as the “thinnest smartphone”. Weighing in at 112 grams, 7.6mm thick and 18% thinner than its previous model. The phone is indeed taller than the others as predicted making it easier to rock the 326ppi Retina display (1136 x 640 resolution).
This was a big one for me. Now Sprint, AT&T and Verizon will run on LTE — the fastest cellular data network. If you live in LA or any other major city you know why we were hurting for this upgrade.
Apple has tweaked the battery life in the 5 with eight hours of 3G or LTE talk time and 10-hours talk time/browsing on WiFi.
Vloggers rejoice! The front-facing camera has receive an overhaul, now touting a 720p camera. Even with it being downsized by 25%, the iPhone 5 camera still rocks the 8-megapixel camera the iPhone 4s has. Another exciting addition is its dynamic low light mode aimed to improve overall image quality.
The iPhone 5 will be available sooner than their previous releases. You can start to preorder your phone as soon as September 14 with shipping on September 21 to the U.S., Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. This is by far their fastest turn around time after an announcement.
The iPhone 5 will be priced at the same tiers as the iPhone 4S with the 16GB model selling for $199 USD, 32GB at $299 USD and the 64GB at $399 USD. Can’t beat that!
