The following is a paid post in partnership with Columbia Crest Winery. All opinions are my own.

Some exciting things are afoot at Columbia Crest. The 2014 Crowdsourced Cabernet Sauvignon is going on presale – February 22-29.

So what exactly is Crowdsourced Cabernet? Well, it’s the people’s wine – the first wine ever to be crowdsourced from vine to bottle. Through the CrowdsourcedCabernet.com site, Columbia Crest was able to turnover the winemaking process to their fans and allow them to vote on what the next step in the winemaking process would be. For example, they chose to harvest at night, which resulted in creating a wine with a complexity to it, yet having soft tannins. They also chose to age it 16-months in 30% new oak barrels. All of these choices that were voted on by Columbia Crest fans created a wonderfully layered Cabernet Sauvignon from the Horse Heaven Hills in Washington State.

This winemaking first has produced approximately 1,000 cases of the 2014 Crowdsourced Cabernet, and will be available for purchase in the U.S., online and in the Columbia Crest tasting room in Paterson, Washington. Which, if you have never been before, I would highly recommend visiting.
