There aren’t many things I can think of that I don’t enjoy a good collaboration on. Clothes, food, music, even furniture—when two creators you love come together to make something new and amazing you just can’t beat it. Back in 2015, Jameson Irish Whiskey teamed up with Angel City Brewery to create a unique Jameson-finished beer, and another awesome team was born. The “Imperial Irish Red Ale” was created simply by aging the brew in Jameson barrels for six months. And, of course, the results were super tasty. But it gets even better. Once they were done aging the beer, those barrels were not only infused with the heavenly characteristics from the Jameson, but with the notes and flavors from the product of the partnership as well. So what else was there to do but to keep things going? And that’s exactly what they did.

After Angel City Brewery was finished with the barrels, back they sent them to the Jameson Midleton Distillery to be refilled with Jameson Irish Whiskey. The wonderful result: Jameson Caskmates Angel City Brewery Edition. This may not be the first Caskmates collaboration that Jameson has done, but I do believe this is the first of its reciprocal kind. So it’s no surprise that the outcome is completely delicious.

This delectable 40% ABV Irish Whiskey starts with a nose of ripe fig, toffee and tobacco notes; tastes of light vanilla, molasses, dried stone fruits and black cherries; and has a peppery finish with a subtle sweetness and that smooth, warming linger that we’ve all come to know and love from Jameson. It’s best served neat, on the rocks, or (happily and unsurprisingly) paired with an Angel City Imperial Irish Red Ale.
